Finished products! Hoorah!
Big jump from the thumbnails I posted a few weeks ago to now, eh? I planned on posting the comp I got to render by hand (that skull was a party to render), but I never got around to scanning it so, finished piece, nyah! The work in this class won't be as fun/cool after this assignment, sorry :P.
And the cell phone! Some of the highlights and shadows look blocky, but that's the style I started shading it as so I suppose it fits, just don't look TOO closely at it.

That's it for now, expect more work.

Oh yeah, I also own my own website now. www.lifeofgeek.com. Nothing's up there yet because I am busy and don't remember anything about html, but there will be things there eventually!

more learnin's

Once upon a time my boyfriend and I had an anniversary and decided to get a kitten. We found the perfect little snowshoe/siamese mix and we named him Tanuki due to the adorable little mask around his eyes. We loved him so.
Then one day, he ate twelve other kittens or something and suddenly weighs a jillion pounds. We still love him, though, even if he is too fat to lick his own bottom. Oh well, now he's like a real baby.

Anyway, this story has a point. I love my cat and other cats and cats in general. So when my next assignment for illustrative painting was to produce an album cover the first thing that popped into my head was Jets to Brazil which is not only my favorite band, but is loaded with songs with cat imagery! I took that opportunity to be obsessed about my big fat furry baby some more and made him a rock star:
A few choices based on song lyrics.

this cigarette it could seduce
a nation with its smoke
crawling down my tired throat
scratches part of me that's purring

Maybe I took it too literally with the smoking cat, but I found it funny.

deep in the flat with the technicolor cat

He's more fun in blue, I think

Those are the basics, not to mention songs like Cat Heaven which, come on, title. I also know that Mid-day Anonymous is not actually on this album, but I don't care, it's Jets. Orange Rhyming Dictionary isn't even on this album and that's the freakin' title (notice my super suble and oddly tiny orange book on the nightstand on the back cover, I'll just cover my ass by saying it's a pocket dictionary).

Anyway, I had fun with this project. Expect a few more this week when I get things completed!

super exciting

Tracing cell phones in illustrator is fuuuun. It's a little lumpy since I saved the edited version only after I started coloring it (which I'll post once I'm done). Not much else until I get a few things finished and/or photographed. SO ENJOY THIS. DO IT.

learnings

School has started back up again and thus my time is now taken up with homework instead of videogames. Sigh. (Though I still play video games, just very rushed and at 11 pm). Time to post the fruits of my first two weeks. Or at least the things that aren't naked men.
These are thumbnails for a poster I need to make. I had to dedicate it to an artist that really inspired/s me. I couldn't really think of an ARTIST artist (Van Gogh etc.) so I somehow talked my teacher into letting me use the creators of The Venture Brothers. Hey, I did watch Scooby Doo and Johnny Quest and the like as a kid and I do enjoy the style the show is done it, so I found it fitting. Feedback would be appreciated on what the two people that read this like, though it's more to see how many people agree with the one I've picked.

This....well, is a master copy for my illustrative painting class. It probably would have come out much much better if I actually knew how to use water colors, though I'm actually fairly pleased with it considering I used a medium I'd never touched before. Don't look up the original, mine looks better that way. (Original by Edward and Maurice Detmold).

More to come as I make weird things.
