more learnin's

Once upon a time my boyfriend and I had an anniversary and decided to get a kitten. We found the perfect little snowshoe/siamese mix and we named him Tanuki due to the adorable little mask around his eyes. We loved him so.
Then one day, he ate twelve other kittens or something and suddenly weighs a jillion pounds. We still love him, though, even if he is too fat to lick his own bottom. Oh well, now he's like a real baby.

Anyway, this story has a point. I love my cat and other cats and cats in general. So when my next assignment for illustrative painting was to produce an album cover the first thing that popped into my head was Jets to Brazil which is not only my favorite band, but is loaded with songs with cat imagery! I took that opportunity to be obsessed about my big fat furry baby some more and made him a rock star:
A few choices based on song lyrics.

this cigarette it could seduce
a nation with its smoke
crawling down my tired throat
scratches part of me that's purring

Maybe I took it too literally with the smoking cat, but I found it funny.

deep in the flat with the technicolor cat

He's more fun in blue, I think

Those are the basics, not to mention songs like Cat Heaven which, come on, title. I also know that Mid-day Anonymous is not actually on this album, but I don't care, it's Jets. Orange Rhyming Dictionary isn't even on this album and that's the freakin' title (notice my super suble and oddly tiny orange book on the nightstand on the back cover, I'll just cover my ass by saying it's a pocket dictionary).

Anyway, I had fun with this project. Expect a few more this week when I get things completed!
